Kalinin Viktor was born in Altai.
He studied at the Krasnoyarsk Art School, then at the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School, from which he graduated in 1971. He has been participating the Russian and international exhibitions since 1966. In 1982 Kalinin won the Moscow Komsomol Prize. In 1988 he won the prize of the Biennale of Painting in Iraq. The artist lives and works now in Moscow. He has the title of Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, First Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts since 2017, and is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, Creative Union of Artists of Russia, and member of the Moscow Union of Writers.
The museum’s exposition presents the work Dream in Kalinin’s significant style of painting when melting texture is combined with a mobile composition, a kind of collage, and mosaic color placement.
