Sinezubov Nikolai is a portrait, still life, and genre painter, graphic artist, book and journal illustrator, and author of many prints. He was born and grew up in Moscow, studied at the law faculty at a university, and at the same time at Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1912-1917).

He was a member of the Moscow Association of Artists from 1917, The World of Art from 1921 to 1922, and The Makovets from 1922 to 1926.

The artists of the Makovets association were characterized by the desire to comprehend the «new reality in romantic images» through ancient mythology. This is the case with the painting Venus Awakens by Nikolai Sinezubov, an active member of the association.
