Kulikov Ivan is a Russian artist, painter, and master of portraits and genre scenes.

Kulikov was born in the town of Murom in a peasant family. In the summer of 1893, Ivan Semyonovich met an artist A. Morozov, who noticed that the boy had talent and advised him and his parents to send him to the school of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. In the autumn of 1896, Kulikov became an unenrolled student and in the spring of 1898 enrolled in the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts.

The main characteristic of Kulikov’s paintings is genre and thematic diversity. The painting A Peasant (Forest Guard) is full of silence, peace, and harmony.
