Shayakhmetov Kamil is a painter and the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan.
He was born in Kokchetav graduated from the art school in Alma-Ata in 1949 and from 1950 to 1956 studied at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin in Leningrad in the workshop of Y. Neprintsev.
In his art, Shayakhmetov developed a diverse range of subjects, encompassing everyday scenes, historical events, portraits, and landscapes. His paintings are distinguished by monumental lofty of images, optimistic perception of reality, closeness to nature, broad manner of painting, and a rich major colour scale. Such is the work Winners, presented in the museum’s exposition.
