Shin Vladimir is a painter.

He was born in the village of Sinbar, Shkotovsky district, Primorsky Krai. In 1937, during the deportation of Koreans from the Far East, the family settled at the station Dzhalagash of Kyzyl-Orda region. Here Vladimir Shin received a secondary education. In 1943 he entered the faculty of painting of the All-Russian Academy of Arts which was evacuated during the Great Patriotic War to Samarkand. After his second year at the academy, he was mobilized into the labour army in the Komi ASSR (now the Komi Republic). At the end of the war, he was reinstated to the third year of the All-Russian Academy of Arts. Soon he was forced to leave his studies and went to Ust-Kamenogorsk, East Kazakhstan region. He worked as an artist-decorator in the theatre named after Zhambyl. Zhambyl, as well as in the workshops of KazIZO. In 1950 he moved to Semipalatinsk (now Semey), worked in the art workshops of the city, and participated in city and republican exhibitions. He was awarded the medal «Veteran of Labour».

Vladimir Shin worked mainly in the portrait genre. He performed numerous commissioned portraits of famous people in the city and lovingly painted portraits of relatives and people who were close to him. Throughout his creative career, Vladimir Fedorovich retained an ardent admiration for the natural world. The artist always tried to reveal the bright individuality of a person and aimed to choose an interesting type. In the Portrait of Zhanbyrbaev, the artist managed to create a type of a contemporary, a working man, strong in mind and body.
