Tabiev Bakhtiyar is a painter, the Honoured Art Worker of the Kazakh SSR, and a member of the Artists Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He was born in Kulja, China, and graduated from V.I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (1967) where he studied under A. Gritsay. He worked as a teacher at the Alma-Ata Art School from 1967-1973 and has been participating in exhibitions since 1967. The artist is known as a master of landscapes and thematic paintings.
Tabiev is a talented colourist. His work is characterized by deep immersion in colour. Master’s paintings are saturated with complex colour and subtle tonal transitions.
The theme of motherhood and the fate of women is a frequent one in the works of Tabiev. A Woman with a Child, presented in the exhibition, is an organic part of a series of paintings developing the theme: Man – Steppe – Universe.
