Maslov Sergey is a painter, author of artistic texts, media art, and art objects, a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (1986).
He was born in Samara and lived and worked in Almaty and Semey. From 1973 to 1978 S. Maslov studied at the Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute at the Faculty of Art and Graphic Arts. From 1983 to 1985 he was a postgraduate student at the Research Institute of Art Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in Moscow.
In his artistic practice, Maslov developed his mythology in many ways such as installation, video, performance, and painting. The artist was inspired by various spiritual practices, and teachings and described his style as “oriental mysticism”. His creative works reflect many philosophical ideas and psychological experiences. Sergei Maslov’s works often feature archaic images of ancient nomads, spirits, and alien beings. Along with the fascinating traditions of the steppe, outer space life is also one of the central themes for the artist. In the exposition of the museum, Sergey Nikolaevich Maslov is represented by the work My Whitney. American singer and actress Whitney Houston (1963-2012) was his muse, inspiration, and love during the all-creative life of the master.
