Henry Enfield is an English realist and marine painter. He was born in London and started painting with oil and watercolours first as an amateur artist. He was friends with Robert Louis Stevenson and his cousin Bob, who also was an artist. In 1873-1875 Enfield studied under Charles Emile Auguste Durant in Paris. He traveled a lot, always improving his skills.

The cold colouring of the Norwegian Fjord from the museum collection, with its louring sky at the horizon and the morose cliffs convey a gloomy mood of nature, and rickety shiplet under a light sail, hiding from the rough weather and fighting with storm awakes in the audience romantic feelings and inquietude, as well as compassion and admiration of the force of elements.
