Noda Andrei is a painter, graphic artist, ceramist, photographer, poet, actor, laureate of the “Tarlan” award of 2003, laureate of the Eurasian Union Creative prize (2016, Gold Medal), member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

He was born in Alma-Ata and graduated from the Almaty State Theater and Art Institute named after Zhurgenov in 1988. He is an active participant in the city, republican, foreign, international, collective, and personal exhibitions. Nowadays the artist lives and works in his studio near Almaty.

Art critics attribute his style to expressionism, but the artist himself calls it “color realism”. Paintings, reminiscent of the style of children’s drawing, unfold passions, reveal genuine feelings, and spill out extremely hot emotions. Noda reveals the mood and temper of the character not only through facial expressions but also through color. Colors in the work of Andrei Noda are very metaphorical.  With their help, the artist expresses the mood of the characters and the entire emotional background of a particular work. His paintings create a strange, surreal feeling of presence and immersion in a special world of dreams and fantasies. Behind the Grass is a painting that continues such fantasy experiments of the artist.
