Gerasimov Sergey is a painter, graphic artist, illustrator, teacher, and art historian. In 1943 he got the title of People’s Artist of the RSFSR, People’s Artist of the USSR in 1958, and Honored Art Worker in 1937. Gerasimov became a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR in 1947, First Secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1958-1964).

He studied at the Stroganov Art-Industrial School (1901-1907) and at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under K. Korovin and S. Ivanov.

Since the 30s, most of his works were created in the genre of landscape, with subtle poetry, harmony, and freshness of color. One of such landscapes is in the collection of our museum. It is Winter Landscape with Crows.
