Happy holiday, our dear capital! Happy birthday, Astana!

Beautiful Astana, with its wide avenues, picturesque parks, modern high-rise buildings, and impressive palaces, shines with multicolored lights at night and buzzes with voices during the day.

Both modern and old, it amazes visitors and tourists, helps its residents go about their daily lives, and welcomes everyone seeking new experiences, creativity or prosperity.

In the heart of the city stands the Baiterek Monument, a viewing tower shaped like a tree holding a sphere at the top. This design comes from an ancient nomadic myth, brought to life through modern architecture, symbolizing a new era for the Kazakh people.

According to the myth, the World River flows at the crossroads of worlds. On its banks stands the Tree of Life. Its roots hold the earth, and its crown reaches the sky. Each year, the sacred bird Samruk lays an egg — the Sun — in the Tree’s branches, but the dragon Aydahar, who lives at the base, swallows it. And so, summer turns into winter, and the cycle of life continues.

Today, Baiterek has become not only a symbol of the city but also the inspiration for young artists attending a recent workshop at the Nevzorov family Regional Museum of Fine Arts. The children worked in a new technique for them — scratchboard art. Lines appeared on the black paper, the Tree of Life grew, Baiterek rose towards the sky, people walked around it, and clouds floated above it.

She taught the children the details of graphic art, the process of preparing the paper, shared general principles of composition, and, of course, told them the legend behind the grand monument at the heart of our capital.

Thus, in this joyful creativity, the museum and its beloved visitors celebrated the birthday of our dear capital together.
