The Scientific and Practical conference is a wonderful opportunity for any museum to generate new ideas, discoveries, and investigations in the museum field, get acquainted with the vast museum community, share findings, or spotlight ongoing issues. It’s an excellent tool for sharing experiences, expanding knowledge within the science and research field, and enriching the theoretical and philosophical base of national arts and museum studies.
Each year, the State Arts Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosts a scientific and practical “Kasteev’s readings” conference. This year’s conference was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of A. Kasteev. The Regional Museum of Fine Arts named after the Nevzorov Family in the Abai oblast presented two articles at the conference. The deputy director Khalitova Ilvira Akhmetzhanova gave a speech at the meeting with a report on “Some Facts of the Biography of the Artist V.D. Vuchichevich-Sibirsky”, which received the most positive feedback. The importance of discovering a name, previously unknown to most other museums was especially emphasized.
The second report presented at the conference was “To the question of attribution of Jacob Folkema’s engraving ‘Biblical Scene’…” explaining changes in the name of a graphical work from the museum collection. The author is the head of the department of scientific and exhibition work of the museum Rekida Irinia Mikhailovna. This article was not announced at the conference as a report; however, it was included in the collection of materials.
It’s not the first time that the Museum’s staff members have taken part in this conference. The reports at the “Kasteev Readings” have become a good tradition for the museum. They let to make new acquaintances and inspire further work.
